Fictional brand · personal example/2026
bruma
A 25-second vertical launch spot for «bruma», a fictional fruit soda, made as a personal example of the motion part of my launch kit.
(01) Overview
«bruma» does not exist. It is a fruit soda I invented to show, with a real piece, what the launch kit delivers: a short 3D spot for the product and, at the end, my studio's sign-off. I designed the brand, the label, the three flavours and the spot around them, the way I would for a client launching a new drink. Every shot carries a small «Example · fictional brand» tag.

(A) The Challenge
A soda is bought on impulse, so the spot has a few seconds to make the can look cold, the fruit look fresh and the brand stick. That puts the weight on materials and colour, all cut on the beat and readable on a phone in 9:16.
(B) The Approach
- 01
Structure first
The first pass already had the six sections, from a rain of cans to the close. But the plain label and the white pedestals read as a stock mockup rather than a brand.
- 02
A label with character
Two more passes that same evening turned the label into a vertical brand mark with cut fruit, added rotating rays and replaced the pedestals with three colour stripes that sweep the screen.
- 03
On the first kick
The edit is counted in beats of an 85 BPM track: the rain covers the last four beats of the intro and the hero can lands on the first kick.
- 04
From drawn to cold
Version 2 kept that cut and rebuilt the look: brushed aluminium, a matte frost the drops wipe clean, real shadows. The fruit took three tries before settling on round slices, round like the can itself.

(02) The Product
First pass: the structure, with a plain label
The six sections were there from the first frames: the brand running in two rows behind the can, the hero with its headline, the burst and the three flavours. The label was still a horizontal logo on a flat colour and the flavours stood on white pedestals, which read as a stock mockup rather than a brand.
Second pass: a label with character
The brand turned vertical and white, with a cut passion fruit, lime or strawberry wrapping the can and waves for the «bruma» (mist) in the name. Rotating rays and a saturated background per flavour gave each shot of the burst its own colour. The arch and pedestals for the trio did not survive the next pass.
v1: on the beat, with stripes for the trio
The trio became three colour stripes that sweep the screen, one can in each, and the opening became a rain of cans and slices in slow motion over «nueva bruma». Every cut sits on a beat of the 85 BPM track, and the hero can enters with the first kick.
Three takes on the fruit
Top: the illustrated disc of v1, clean but too graphic next to a realistic can. Middle: cut halves, more natural but irregular, so the trio lost its rhythm. Bottom: the final round slices, real enough to read as fresh fruit and round like the can itself. Same frame in the three versions.
v2: same cut, new materials
Left v1, right v2, same seconds. Brushed aluminium with stretched reflections, a frost that drops and runs wipe clean, large drops that bend the print behind them, soft studio light and real shadows. The can went from drawn to cold. The timing did not move a frame.
(03) The Outcome
A 25.4-second vertical reel in two versions plus a variant: v1 with illustrated fruit and v2 with the new materials, which is the one published. The can feels cold and real, each flavour owns a colour, and the name is read before the first second ends. It was the first of the series of product spots that followed: skincare, perfume, chocolate and headphones.
